On October 2, 2019, Polaroid Originals announced the discontinuation of film production for Polaroid Spectra cameras, reports Casual Photofile.
Over the course of the year, users complained about the performance of the new film packs with the cameras: the photos would not eject from the cameras. Polaroid Originals heard the users' complaints and took a six-month timeout to resolve the issue. However, yesterday the company announced the discontinuation of Polaroid Spectra Film production.
"Since 1986, Spectra has been an important part of Polaroid’s range and the world of analog photography. After three decades, the time for these wide-format cameras has come. Most Spectra cameras jam and often break down. Unfortunately, we cannot influence this.
We conducted extensive research and concluded that we will no longer produce film for Spectra cameras. That is why, with a heavy heart, we announce the discontinuation of Polaroid Spectra Film," said Polaroid Originals CEO Oskar Smolokowski.
