Just a month ago, the company Impossible Project released an updated version of cartridges for retro Polaroid cameras. The manufacturer promised a number of significant improvements in the cartridges. We took a Polaroid instant camera, to be precise, the Polaroid SLR 680, the new Impossible 600 cartridge, and decided to test the company's promises in practice. All this to share our experience and impressions with you.

Improvement 1. Color Reproduction
One of the significant upgrades — is a considerable improvement in color reproduction in the photos. Previously, especially when shooting in very warm weather (as we did), it was very difficult to find green and blue in the photos, but now everything has changed. The color palette has become truly more diverse and richer.
At the same time, the "analog" feel and the special Polaroid charm of the photos remain. These are still not just bright and contrasty shots; the Polaroid effect is still there.
Improvement 2. Development Time
The next important step in improving Impossible cartridges — is the reduction of development time. Previously, Impossible color instant photos required 30-40 minutes to develop into finished shots (depending on temperature), but now it takes a maximum of 20-30 minutes. We specifically recorded the development process so you can see for yourself. Our development process for a shot on the Impossible 600 cartridge took about 20 minutes (the outdoor temperature during development was around 20-25 degrees Celsius).
Improvement 3. The Magic of Instant Photography
With the new cartridges, the instant photo development process has become more uniform. This means the photo starts to develop gradually literally 2 minutes after it comes out of the camera. Throughout the entire development time, you see more and more and feel the same "magic of instant photography." In previous versions, little was visible on the instant photo for most of the time, and the image appeared quickly only in the last 5-10 minutes.
In summary, we can confidently say that the updated version of Impossible cartridges for retro Polaroid cameras — is truly a step forward and real improvements. So shoot with Polaroid, capture moments, and love true analog photography. Because it already loves you :)
