Just a month ago, Impossible Project released an updated version of cartridges for retro Polaroid cameras. The manufacturer promised a number of significant improvements to the cartridges. We got our hands on an instant camera - to be precise, a Polaroid SLR 680 - along with a new Impossible 600 cartridge and decided to test Impossible's promises in practice. We did all this to share our experience and impressions with you.

Improvement 1. Color reproduction
One of the significant improvements — is a major improvement in color reproduction in the photograph. Previously, especially when shooting in very warm weather (as we did), it was very difficult to find any green or blue in the resulting image. Now everything has changed. The color palette has become truly more diverse and richer.
At the same time, the photographs retain their "analog" quality and special Polaroid charm. These are still not simply bright and high-contrast images; the Polaroid effect has not disappeared.
Improvement 2. Development time
The next important step in improving Impossible cartridges — is the reduced development time. Previously, Impossible color instant photos needed 30-40 minutes to turn into finished pictures (depending on the temperature), whereas now it takes a maximum of 20-30 minutes. We specifically filmed the development process so that you could see this for yourselves. For us, developing a photograph from an Impossible 600 cartridge took about 20 minutes (the outdoor temperature during development was around 20-25 degrees).
Improvement 3. The magic of instant photography
With the new cartridges, instant-photo development has become a more even process. This means that the image begins to develop gradually literally within 2 minutes after it emerges from the camera. Throughout the entire development process, you see more and more of the image and experience that same "magic of instant photography." In previous versions, very little could be seen on the instant photo for most of the process, and the image appeared rapidly only during the final 5-10 minutes.
To sum up, we can confidently say that the updated version of Impossible cartridges for retro Polaroid cameras — is truly a step forward and represents genuine improvements. So shoot with Polaroid, capture the moments, and love real analog photography. Because it already loves you :)
